Before making a complaint, please ensure you have read the guidance on gov.uk.

 

Ofsted cannot consider complaints about independent schools.

You should write to the school first. If you are unhappy with their response, you should send your complaint in writing to:

Ofsted cannot consider complaints about institutions that provide education only for people over the age of 16.

Ofsted cannot consider complaints between an individual and a training provider.

Ofsted is unable to comment on a situation regarding individual grievances or to intervene when a complaint is made against a local authority.

A complaint should be made directly to the local authority in accordance with its complaints procedure.

Once you have followed the local authority’s complaints route, should you remain dissatisfied you can further your concerns to the Local Government Ombudsman.

We do have some powers to investigate your concerns about services we inspect or regulate, but we would suggest that you start by discussing your worries directly with the person in charge.
